Your Saratoga Woods Homeowners Association (SWHA) strives to make improvements that will keep Saratoga Woods one of the strongest and best mobilized neighborhoods in the City of Saratoga. All residents bounded by Saratoga Creek Drive, Cox Avenue, Saratoga Avenune, and Prospect High School are within the SWHA boundary and are automatically considered members. Each house-hold is asked to contribute $10/year to offset the cost of printing and mailing newsletters, and to pay for other miscellaneous expenses, all for the benefit of our neighborhood.

Secure Mailboxes

For those of you who are new to the neighborhood, you should be aware that Saratoga Woods was hit by a rash of mail thefts starting in early 2004. As a neighborhood we're not unique in this regard, however we are probably unique in the way we've reacted to the assault. Our homeowners association has been lobbying neighbors to install secure mailboxes to protect themselves and to deter mail thieves from visiting our neighborhood. You can see photos of all the installations to date in our Neighborhood Forums.

For those of you who have lived here a while and still don't have a secure mailbox installed, I should remind you that in November 2004 one of our neighbors had her mail stolen which led to thieves draining $3,000 out of her checking account. Then on May 4, 2005 the Saratoga News published an article reporting that "police officers in San Martin also recovered a letter from suspected burglars that had been written by someone in prison. "The letter instructed them on how to target affluent communities like Saratoga," said Calderone. "It also gave advice on how to target mailboxes for identity theft." " Install your secure mailbox now; don't wait until it's too late.

Handling Solicitors

All non-profit solicitors must carry a letter of acknowledgement from the city, displaying a City of Saratoga letterhead, to legally solicit in Saratoga.
