About Us
The Saratoga Woods Home Owners Association began
when the first of the George Day homes was built in 1956-7. The
Home Owners Association was formed to maintain the original appearance
and atmosphere of the neighborhood
as well as to provide an arena for for homeowners to discuss and resolve
any disputes. The Home Owners Association originally represented
a very small section of what is now considered to be Saratoga Woods;
the original development was Saratoga Glen Place, and portions of Saratoga
Creek Drive. As various developers added homes to the area, the
Home Owners Association expanded to include all existing homeowners
between
Saratoga Avenue and Saratoga Creek Drive, Lawrence Expressway and Cox
Avenues.
The major emphasis of the Home Owners Association has been to educate
our residents regarding safety (personal and property), help settle
any disputes within the neighborhood and to be an effective political
force to promote points of view that support and maintain the unique
character of our neighborhood.
Some specific activities include:
 |
Helping neigbors understand and combat mail theft. |
 |
Helping to encourage a safe flow of traffic in & around the neighborhood. |
 |
Supporting the majority of the neighbors' wishes regarding
second story additions and remodels. |
 |
Establishing a Neighborhood Watch Program and the Emergency
Preparedness Team (SWEPT). |
 |
Several aggressive attempts at having Saratoga Woods included
in the Saratoga School District. |
 |
Providing an on-line bulletin board for neighborhood communications. |
 |
Contacting the City Code Enforcement department to keep the
neighborhood looking good. |
|
We have also:
 |
Joined with other Home Owners Associations to oppose
Hwy 85 and include mitigations to noise and traffic once it was
approved. |
 |
Insisted that the old Masson Winery be residential. |
 |
Supported various local political causes and candidates and
hosted candidate forums. |
 |
Had stop signs installed along Saratoga Creek Drive. |
 |
Had the stack lane at Kosich opened for entrance onto Saratoga
Avenue. |
 |
Insisted that the Kosich orchard remain residential |
The Home Owners Association is not associated
with the Saratoga Woods Community
Association, (aka The Pool Club)
although residents may belong to both organizations. Although all
residents
of Saratoga Woods are automatically members of the Home Owners Association,
we encourage every homeowner to join its paid voting membership
at the very modest annual fee of $10 which permits
our organization to be an effective representative of the community.
