Please, please attend the City Council meeting on July 21!! At that time, the Council is scheduled to approve/disapprove putting the 2 story height limit issue on the November ballot.
If lots of us show up to support putting the 2 story height limit (for commercial, mixed use, multi-residential)on the November ballot, they will be forced to do so. It is only right that Saratoga residents have the opportunity to decide the future of our City.
As you may know, there have been ongoing discussions with 2 Council members and on July 21 the entire City Council will decide whether or not to place the issue on the Nov. ballot. If they refuse, we will continue collecting signatures and force a Special Election; we do not want to do that, for several reasons.
It is truly critical that you and your neighbors show up en masse for this meeting! July 21, 2010, starting at 7 PM. Please go to the City website for the detailed agenda. |

Reminder to attend the July 21 City Council meeting. The Council will decide whether or not to place the restoration of the 2 story height limit on the November ballot.
The 2 story height limit does not affect residential construction; it does affect every commercial, mixed-use and multi-residential development/renovation/expansion throughout Saratoga.
In April, the Council majority voted to sidestep appropriate public notification and allow 3+ story, high density development in Saratoga. Few people knew of that decision and those that did began an Initiative effort to restore the 50+ year old restriction. Having only 2-3 people making such a dramatic change to Saratoga's General Plan is not right; Saratoga residents have the opportunity to decide the future of our City.
In case you think this issue won't affect you, look around town and notice all the little shopping centers; they all adjoin residential neighborhoods. All are "ripe" for development even in this economy. Therefore, I urge you to attend the July 21 Council meeting to support the placement of the Initiative on the November Ballot.
It is vital that you and your neighbors show up en masse for this meeting! July 21, 2010, starting at 7 PM. Please go to the City website for the detailed agenda. |
